Sarah Blaustein, “MV A-15,” 2024, ink and acrylic on canvas, 50 x 50 inches (127 x 127 cm).

Description

For NADA Miami 2024, HESSE FLATOW is pleased to present works by Sarah Blaustein and Carolina Jiménez, both of whom explore the trope of the vessel as body in somatic, symbolic, and decorative ways. Known for her brightly hued, gesturally abstract compositions of acrylic and ink, Blaustein attuning to her canvases as if they are living, reacting entities, maintaining a sensibility to the here-and-now. Jiménez creates “woven paintings”, whose focus centers around the body as a site for memory, monuments into which the past is woven, unraveled, and stretched.
