“Studio Flowers” is a presentation of new oil paintings by Blair Saxon-Hill documenting complex bouquets arranged by the artist with flowers purchased from local markets in LA. While the works are essentially still life paintings created from real-world observations and time spent with her arrangements, they also take on an otherworldly quality as she places the flowers and accompanying vases into fictional settings. Imagined people, pets and narratives integrate with Saxon-Hill’s expressively painted bouquets, creating relatable scenes that are filled with equal measures of whimsy and play.
