NADA Miami 2024

García’s work has approached the influence of Western culture and European painting in the Mexican pictorial tradition in multiple ways, with a particular interest in still life from the 17th & 18th centuries, as well as the bodegones from Flemish Baroque painting. Recently, he has explored medieval painting from the 15th century. His work employs compositions of symbolic elements and aesthetic resources found in those images, later adapted and re-signified within his universe. In this work titled Cachorros, he proposes a dialogue between 1970s Mexican cinema and contemporary painting.
