The six-plate aquatint etching is McAllister’s first collaboration with Wingate Studio. McAllister used sugar lift and spit bite aquatint processes to compose his image on six copper plates cut with a curved top. The arch toppped plates help give the landscape a limitless quality, opening up space into these imagined scenes that are simultaneously gathered from references to the delicate soft vastness of New England as well as art history.
