Quiltmaker and weaver Sam Slipkovich explores textiles as forms of human connection, searching for what the artist calls “the link between body and blanket.” In Angel Quilt, Slipkovich melds references to contemporary culture with traditional American coverlet patterns, finding in the union of disjunctive patterns a metaphor for embracing new encounters, experiences, and constructions of identity.
