This metal, papier mâché, and wood assemblage by Iranian-American artist Anahita Bagheri’s treats flowers as a potent symbol for female strength and power. Hovering between genesis and destruction, this sculpture responds to a harrowing political moment in Iran as well as globally, in which women are at once at the center of many protest movements across the globe, and also facing extreme violence and censorship.
