Toronto-based artist Laura Moore creates quilted and hand-carved representations of obsolete communication technologies such as discarded Blackberry devices and outmoded pagers. Moore modeled the pattern of “Blackberry 8700” on the printed circuit board of an old Blackberry, and assembled the quilt from recycled and discarded textiles, including previously worn garments from other artists. In this long-outmoded circuitry, Moore sees a metaphor for technology’s impact on the environment as well as the human mind.
