Bas Fisher Invitational (BFI) Reflects on Its 20-Year Anniversary: A Conversation

Bas Fisher Invitational (BFI), a Miami-based, W.A.G.E.-certified, artist-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a season of WEIRD MIAMI artist-led bus tours and a special event at the Miami Beach Bandshell in 2025. 
 
To mark this milestone, BFI Co-Founder and Director Naomi Fisher will moderate a panel discussion reflecting on BFI’s history. The conversation will feature artists who have played a vital role in shaping our legacy:
 
Jen Stark, Los Angeles-based artist originally from Miami, is renowned for her vibrant, nature-inspired optical art and groundbreaking work in digital media, including her notable NFT piece Multiverse, her first solo show was at BFI in 2007.
 
misael soto, co-founder of A4A (Artists for Artists), creates ephemeral works that disrupt systems and objects, fostering solidarity among Miami artists through initiatives like the Miami Artist Census.
 
Sheherazade Thénard Miami-based artist with a Master of Fine Arts from UCF, explores Afro-Caribbean heritage, Black queer identity, and personal narratives through dynamic oil paintings, drawings and printmaking. They are currently working on project titled "Little Islands" which will be supported by BFI.
