In her series ‘Vehicle Sightings’, Weist accesses images of her car and those of her friends and collaborators on this database. Each work is one photograph, showing site-specific installations by the artist on these cars that respond to the gaze of and are captured by this surveillance. Poignant and confrontational, these gestures allow the artist to reappropriate these otherwise restricted images as her own.
