Description
This suite of paintings by Ánima Correa was created specifically for the fair. The centerpiece, “Coriolis”, depicts a massive spiraling school of fish illuminated by the eerie glow of a green commercial fishing light. “Coriolis” is accompanied by four works from Correa’s ongoing series of obsidian reflection vignettes. Rooted in the divinatory practice of scrying, these works examine the subjectivity of truth: images sourced from popular media surround an obsidian stone, their reflections corrupted and distorted in its surface, closing the circuit from imagined to real, concrete to abstract.
