Description
Seen in the quilts by Rosie Lee Tompkins (1936-2006) are medleys of different shapes and colors. They flash with their electrifying patterns. Each patch is stitched together, cohesively telling her story. Beginning her practice towards the latter half of the twentieth century, Tompkins was guided by faith and family values. The quilts are as biographical as much as they redefine artistic tradition. Considered by some to be the most extraordinary quilter who ever lived, Tompkins made these quilts with a spirit and care that transcend into their current presentation.
