After the painting by Rembrandt, Benjamin shows her own take on the ancient Roman noblewoman Lucretia. This work depicts the woman in a state of anguish, stabbing her breast with a dagger while either reaching to cover herself or to stimulate herself, or both. Butterflies calmly roost on her. Benjamin’s recurring motifs of the heart planet and crescent moon hang in the sky.
