Shadows are culturally prevalent; they have an ancient historical significance and have contributed to the stories 
that shape our view of this world and the next. Some believe these silhouettes may contain something of the person it represents due to their ongoing presence; 
 it is an extension of the individual, symbolic of the soul; without one, a person is lacking or not human. As an exercise in duality, Hunter Potter explores his ongoing interest in the shadow through new paintings on 
canvas and hand-carved sculptures in wood.
