NADA Miami 2022

Florencia Escudero’s soft sculptures relate her ongoing research of the intersection of digital culture and the female body. Her new sculptures created for NADA are inspired by costumes and jewelry worn by controversial historic female performers. She hand-sews satin that is covered with her own digitally printed photo-collages and accents the works with found materials cast inside transparent resin.

Escudero received an MFA in Sculpture from the Yale University School of Art in 2012. She lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Her exhibitions have been reviewed in Cultured Magazine and The Brooklyn Rail. Escudero is currently included in The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum’s exhibition ’52 Artists: A Feminist Milestone,′ curated by Amy Smith-Stewart and Alexandra Schwartz.
