Sara Hubbs' work explores themes of intergenerational care, intimacy, and loss. The pieces signify a departure from traditional childhood rituals associated with the passage of time and the conclusion of life. Created following Sara's personal experience of caring for her mother during a brief illness and subsequent passing, the artworks feature simplified and abstracted shapes. These shapes, along with their materiality, both contrast and affirm the reality of tending to a dying loved one— encompassing moments of quietude, softness, and intimacy with the body and breath.
