Tana Quincy Arcega seamlessly integrates materiality and sustainability, unveiling an embodied philosophy characterized by resilience, tenacity, and tender playfulness. Central to her work are themes of compassion and healing. Originally from Nebraska, the artist honed her skills in sewing patterns at her mother’s fabric store and she went on to receive formal training in figurative painting and sculpture. Despite her classical training as a figurative oil painter, Arcega's exploration of alternative materials and mark-making techniques was prompted by physical limitations. Her distinct artistic journey intertwines with notions of care, evident in her meticulous repurposing of remnant textiles, garment patterns, and delicate found objects.
