For South Korean-born artist In Kyoung Chun, assembly has long served as a “means of survival.” Chun’s Shared Room turns the outlines of a dwelling into an immersive ceiling installation that blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, and personal and public. Speaking to the artist’s own experience of immigration—in which she had to constantly reshape her identity across many different contexts—the project makes space for harmony and home.
