Hermes Berrio’s art seeks to celebrate the power of what the artist calls “everyday assemblies.” The Colombia-born and Miami-based artist often pictures people engaged in acts of togetherness: waiting for the bus, walking on the sidewalk, or just hanging out in their neighborhoods. Highlighting the often-overlooked interactions and activities that give shape to community, this painting shows people move through mass transit, their commute streaked with bands of gold.
