Where does talent come from? In this presentation, artist and theorist Seth Cameron, Executive Director of Children's Museum of the Arts (NY) is joined by YoungArts Artistic Director Lauren Snelling, for a lively discussion of the ways arts education perpetuates the mythology of artistic genius, and ways it might be reimagined to support lifelong aesthetic learning.
Children’s Museum of the Arts unites children and artists to create and share ambitious works of art with their communities and the world. Dedicated to the belief that all children are artists, the museum's Residency for Experimental Arts Education and Artist-in-Schools programs support progressive arts education across New York City and beyond through 100% free after school programs, events, public art programs and online resources. The museum maintains a permanent collection of over 2500 works by children, from over fifty countries, dating back over a century.
Founded in 1981, YoungArts identifies exceptional young artists, amplifies their potential, and invests in their lifelong creative freedom.
Presented by the Children's Museum of the Arts, New York.
