Join renowned performance artist Karen Finley for a reading and conversation with Rachel Mason, director of the documentary Circus of Books. Finley will give a short dramatic reading from her book Grabbing Pussy and will discuss her role of the artist as historical recorder and how her practice is part of a tradition of the artist representing society, policy and the marginalized. Finley will discuss the context of her recent visual work of overlaying text as a space of resistance—a response to the constant bombardment of words as lies, cruelties and misinformation—and how poetics are able to subvert and escape with imagination and purpose.
