Art historian and curator, Itzel Vargas Plata holds a Master in Contemporary art from University of Manchester/Sotheby’s Institute of Art in Britain. She was Director of Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes, Head of Research at Museo de Arte Moderno and Chief Curator in Casa del Lago, Mexico City. She has curated exhibitions such as Carolina Caycedo, Thomas Glassford, Sofía Táboas, Minerva Cuevas, Tania Candiani, Pablo Vargas Lugo, Pia Camil and Iván Argote, among many others. She is currently Chief curator at Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City.
