NADA is pleased to present Texas-based artist Daniel Rios Rodriguez's limited-edition artwork series produced for Friends of NADA, 2019–2020 season.
Bringing together ancient mythological imagery—particularly relating to the worship of nature—with contemporary art historical references, Rodriguez’s paintings and assemblages often take shapes such as circles and stars that allude to the continuous cycles of life. This new edition focuses on the symbology that runs throughout Rodriguez’s work, primarily the sun, the stars, the snake, and the regeneration of life. Rodriguez worked with Hare and Hound Press in San Antonio to create this edition using a combination of processes including a sugar lift etching process on a twenty-pointed star-shaped etching plate along with additional Chine-collé elements in the center.
