Osa has engaged in producing abstract paintings through a repetition of motifs such as circular, triangular, and square forms that are composed of minimum and fundamental elements. His production process that directly confronts mediums such as the canvas and paint creates a sense of arbitrariness and contingency while giving rise to autonomy and homogeneity, with the dynamic brushstrokes appearing to transcend the boundaries of the rectangular contours of the canvas.
Osa said: “I would say that the title Judge in circles reflects my behavior towards the world. When I travel, I try my best to walk a lot, stay in one place for a while, and really soak up the sensations and scenery of my surroundings. Whether it’s the vast ocean spreading out in front of me or the tiny flowers at my feet, both are equally memorable and share the same space in harmony. What’s important is how far I can extend these surroundings, extend myself, and capture a specific mood in my brain and body. By doing this, the raw colors, shapes, and fluctuations that exist in our daily lives intervene in the space of the painting and circulate throughout it. The painting is frozen, but retains some movement”.
