Jongwan Jang establishes a bizarre and surreal world, combining multiple narratives delivered by diverse motifs of flora and fauna. Focusing on anxiety, fantasy, and redemption as core themes, Jang questions the idealized world promised by images of utopian landscapes. Inspired by the landscapes observed through nighttime infrared scopes during his military service, Jang continues the green painting series, which builds a sci-fi beauty and evokes an uncanny sense of dread, while exploring concepts of evolution and enhancement.
