Whether it is the piercing eyes of Shawn Theodore’s gloriously collaged portraits; Natalia Arbelaez’s gold-drenched jugs channeling an evolving history and power of Pre-Columbian vessels; or the activists and friends celebrated in Manuel Hernandez’s large-scale visionary paintings, these artists are fearlessly talking back to us in the midst of an ever turbulent and dangerous world.
