Robbie McDonald’s work relies on external forces. McDonald’s practice revolves around various travels across different continents. The artist’s nomadic roaming involves seamlessly intercepting foreign cultures and landscapes to cultivate a sense of deep gratitude and connection beyond his own locality. Back in his studio in NYC, McDonald assembles his collected artifacts from abroad into sculptural wall pieces. The surfaces begin with tinted mirrors as an act of self-reflection and are pierced with various natural ephemera.
