Somogyi’s paintings on paper use color and repetition to create a mood that feels both meditative and energetic. They relate the sense of flowing water and energies, such as heat. Repeated lines in different shades frame figurative objects, typically natural elements such as flower and fruits. At times, curving lines approximate the profile of a woman’s face, and then relax into amorphous forms.
