A. Pfieffer McNay presented by P.A.D., New York

For NADA House, P.A.D. presents it’s first solo exhibition, an exhibition of new paintings by A. Pfieffer McNay, complete with hand-ornamented artist frames hung on a ‘pad’ column. Transforming our pop-up 'blanket' micro-gallery, McNay has added a new 'third' dimension to the project. The structure allows for a more traditional viewing experience while adhering to the format where all artworks are typically exhibited on the shipping ‘pad’.

The paintings are considered articulations of the artist’s knowledge of painting history, as well as visual protests, suggesting a frustration with contemporary painting. Complementing the paintings are nuanced constructions made with cherry and ash woods, bronze, and steel—elements that reflect the blue-collar dayjob.

P.A.D. is an art exhibition space in historic SOHO (South of Houston) District in New York City. It reflects the bustling economy of artists making, selling and promoting their artworks on the street year-round, weather permitting. The aim of the space is to platform small and editioned works by artists that are interested in embracing new contexts for exhibiting.
