Deli Gallery is proud to present an installation of new terrazzo works by Ficus Interfaith. The D O G M A tiles are inspired by the pictorial alphabet cards often found in a classroom setting (e.g., A is for Apple, B is for Butterfly). In this case, a playful font made of dogs spells out a word with complicated implications. The English word ‘dogma’ is borrowed from Greek, ‘dogma’ meaning “that which one thinks is true”, a definition that forebodes any hardened tenet. Framing the word itself in a pedagogical tool prods at the responsibility of passing down knowledge and the ideas we believe to be true.
