Kristen Lorello’s presentation features a grid of small-scale artworks by Scott Alario and Jeremy Stenger. Scott Alario’s works are multiple-exposed photographs of wild flowers inserted into hand-made ceramic frames. Jeremy Stenger’s paintings on paper of leaves and flowers are inspired by fallen leaves collected on walks with his daughter to and from school. The artists teamed-up virtually in May 2020 to create a video with their daughters while at home during the pandemic. The video alternates lo-res footage of Alario and his family with process images from Stenger’s studio. The soundtrack features the artists’ young daughters playing violin and singing choral warmups, mixed with distorted textural components. In the Governor’s Island installation, the video is presented on an ipad, in a similar scale to the artists’ two-dimensional works, nodding to the small-scale nature of working in the confines of ones home over the last year when access to the studio was limited.
