NADA House 2022

Printmakers, Michele Godwin and Gail Shaw-Clemons’ first introduction to printmaking began with black and white. Creating color prints have always been a challenge for most printmakers throughout history and for them it became a passionate quest. Their proposal for the NADA residency consisted of making prints with color in non-traditional ways, from embroidered linoleum prints on fabric to three-dimensional sculptural monotypes.

Through years of experimenting with various processes in their practice, they have each developed unique approaches to color. As a result, they continue to push the boundaries of printmaking, while merging traditional with contemporary paths to color.
