Atlanta-based artist Heather Bird Harris
engages with communities, scientists, and
site-specific materials to explore the lived
experience of ecological crisis. Atlanta Land Memory Project emerged from a two-week workshop in which Bird Harris invited participants to explore Atlanta’s environmental history through local soil toxicity patterns. Painted with soil, each panel of this painting came from a participant in this group, with Bird Harris assembling this collective portrait of land, place, and history.
