Chicago Invitational 2019

What unique opportunities can small scale exhibition spaces provide artists and curators? What is lost, gained, or amplified when a practice scales up (or down) in the current market? Is this shift in scale a useful metric when placed into a digital feed? This talk, presented by the four directors of BARELY FAIR and Julius Caesar will be divided into six sets of ten minutes discussions that pair curators, artists, and gallerists working at a range of scales in both their personal and professional practices.

BARELY FAIR is a miniature contemporary art fair debuting this fall inside the artist-run space Julius Caesar at 3311 W. Carroll Ave in East Garfield Park, Chicago. The first-ever edition will present programming from 24 international spaces with a Vernissage on Friday, September 20th, 2019, and extending through October 20, 2019. The 1:12 scale fair includes artist run spaces, galleries, and curatorial projects from Chicago, New York City, Los Angeles, Valetta, Toronto, Milwaukee and more.
